Injector driver issues

I'm using MS-I 2.2. I fried my injector FET driver, which sounds like a common problem. I can't find the more robust IXDI404PI-ND. Doing some research I found a IRL520 FET that has a logic gate rather than needing a driver. Can anyone see a reason why I can't use it and use jumpers over U7? The ...

Problems Starting

I've got a 91' Capri race car (same engine as 1600 Miata) that I managed to blow up the bottom end of. Build a new engine with the same Megasquirt ECU(MS-I 2.2), cam's, injectors(240cc) etc. Tried starting it and it would not start. I was out of work for a while so the car has sat for the last two ...

injectors stuck open

A couple of years ago I blew the engine up in my MS'd race car (91' Capri, same engine as 1600 Miata) and it has sat until recently. I now seem to out of my personal recession, so I build a new engine for it. The MS is a MSI, My laptop also blew up so I had to get another one and Mega Tune did not ...

Re: Sub Throttles

My 99' Cougar 2.5 Duratec V6 has a dual track intake with separate tracks for each of the 2 intake valves per cylinder. One of the tracks is blocked off with a butterfly that is opened with a solenoid at a certain load/rpm. The linkage on it broke and I wired it open as a temporary fix. I noticed ...

MSII uses a UDN2916LB stepper motor driver that works for bipolar steppers not unipolar so there is no easy way to driver your IAC. It might be easier to adapt the GM or Ford IAC. You might be able to to use a a board like this:

with some MSII software mods ...

I tried using the Ford inertial shutoff switch, since it was already in my Capri but under race conditions it sometimes cutoff the fuel pump at inappropriate times. It was mainly under high G loads in two different directions or when the car left the ground (only at Mid-Ohio) and landed hard. It ...

The Ford wheel for the 4.6 Lincoln's and Crown Vic's is right at 5". I don't have the part number handy. Mine machined fine, but I understand it does not weld very well because it's made out of some sort of powdered metal. I think mine cost around $17.

Does anyone know how other ECU's like Haltech, Motec, Electromotive ect handle this? Do they run everything through a flyback cirucit?

I use a vacuum desoldering tool and it works great. Just heat up the joint and suck up the solder. I think it cost about $6 and it has come in very handy.

Ford Zetec Fuel pump

I've been asked to look into piggybacking a MS onto a Ford Focus with a 2.0 Zetec. One of the first things that comes up is the Focus has no return line and uses voltage variation to control the fuel pump and fuel pressure. Anyone familar with this? Does it use a pressure transducer to keep the fuel ...

VR sensor: Where to find one

You can get a 1.9 Escort VRS at an auto parts store for about $15. I think I got one for a 91'. To me its not worth the touble to go to a yard for a $15 part thats a pain in the behind to get off. If you want to pick up other stuff like injectors and connectors at the same time it might be worth it ...
