GM coolant sensor tip thickness?

I know it's a bit strange, but does anyone know how thick the walls of the brass sensor tip are that encase the thermistor itself? I was thinking about using a closed-element (a Wells SU109 to be exact) sensor for manifold temperature and cutting cooling fins into the probe end to improve response ...

It depends on if the diameter is a problem, length, or both. I have some from an '05 Suzuki SV650(650cc v-twin) that are only about 1.825" long and less than .625" wide not including the plug. They are only about 19lb.hr, though(200cc/min) and have a special spray pattern.

And yes, tiny turbos DO ...

That would actually be pretty handy to keep. :) You don't need to configure any idle air control valve unless the Yamaha system presents a problem.
