Re: Should WUE go to 0% or 100% when engine warmed up?

I struggle with this concept a little. I "get" that it ends at 100%, but I'm not clear on why it is called "enrichment" at something below 100%, wouldn't this be actually artificially leaning out the mixture? I ask this partially because my warm-up enrichment curve is fully below the 100% line and ...

Re: Running very lean during engine braking, exhaust popping

I received a friendly reminder that I neglected to enter some key information on my initial post, apologies for this:
I'm running MSII V3, with code version 2.89100. I am also utilizing EDIS for spark control. I have a "common" collector pipe for vaccum signal connecting to each of the four intake ...

Running very lean during engine braking, exhaust popping

I recently installed ITB's on my '73 BMW 2002 and am continuing to try to refine the tuning. One issue I'm currently having is that during engine braking (while going down hilll in 2nd, for example) I get really lean AFR readings (18-20:1) in addition to a lot of popping from the exhaust. However ...

Re: Requesting help to track down a short, blowing injectorf

Thanks for the quick reply Lance, I'll take a look at the link you provided regarding D19. I actually saw your reply while I was at O'Reilly picking up some new fuses so went for the 7.5 amp ones. When I got home a few minutes ago I remembered that once before when this happened I thought it perhaps ...

Requesting help to track down a short, blowing injectorfuses

Hi folks. I'll apologize in advance for this being a long post, but want to provide as much info as possible to help in making a diagnosis.

Three times in the three years since I've had my MS system I've had issues where, while driving, I will get very short off/ons of the ignition, like I'm losing ...

Re: Fuel pump gone crazy after updating INI file

AHA!!! Thanks Ken, I'll give that a spin first thing tomorrow. Looks like it was set to Narrowband so that could well be the issue. Thanks so much.

Re: Fuel pump gone crazy after updating INI file

After many many tries I finally got the code to load. Don't know if this was to pure luck or to do with various connections I wiggled, etc.. Regardless, I'm MOSTLY happy. Only weird thing is that now the AFR reads a constant 12.1. Will recalibrate the LC1 tomorrow morning when everything is cold ...

Help Please. MS Downloader keeps failing

I'm pulling my hair out trying to update new code onto my MSII board. I've previously had an older version of the code (2.6 something I believe) and have been trying to update to 2.891. Each time it will get all of the way through the "writing" phase of the install, and then stall at somepoint ...

Re: Fuel pump gone crazy after updating INI file

Good morning guys. It's a new day and I'm trying to come at this with a clear head. The software side of MS has always been my weak point, so please bear with me.
1. For whatever reason, I can no longer get any code version to fully load into the ECU, it always gets partially there (completes the ...

Re: Fuel pump gone crazy after updating INI file

Ok. Now I'm really getting frustrated. I tried to re-load the 2.88 S19 file and I keep getting part way through the verification and then it tells me it has some sort of block. Each time it happens at a different place, sometimes at 4% verification, others at 30-something %. What the heck is going on?

Re: Fuel pump gone crazy after updating INI file

Thanks Lance. My brain hurts!!! I'm going to see if I can go back and just load an older version as I really don't want to have to create a new MSQ from scratch. I can see an S19 file that is v2.88, but the closest matching INI file is v2.8. Will these work together okay? All I was trying to do was ...

Fuel pump gone crazy after updating INI file

Hi guys,

I just put in a newer version of the firmware (the first time I've done this since the system was first installed 2 1/2 years ago.) I put on version 2.891. The install went okay after one error message the first time (said "Could not read record 59 block during verification. Exception ...

Completely confused on Acceleration Wizard

Hi guys. I've recently got my car back on the road again and am now sporting ITBs. I've spent the last couple of days getting it to be pretty well driveable, just focusing on the VE table, spark advance, etc... I'm now starting to look at tuning acceleration enrichment, have read the guidelines in ...

Re: Rusty tuner with VERY erratic AFR

Okay, so I got the TPS back in order today, I found that one of the three wires into the sensor had fatigued and broken. Got that all fixed and I'm back on the road, although the AFR is still completely erratic (datalog attached.) Matt, I did as you suggested and tested the voltage at the yellow and ...

Re: Rusty tuner with VERY erratic AFR

Okay, now I am even more confused. About 10 minutes has passed since my last post and I just went out to see if I could figure anything else out. Got the car started and it actually ran much better (granted it is somewhat warmed up now) but the TPS was showing no response or voltage whatsoever ...

Re: Rusty tuner with VERY erratic AFR

Alright. So I fired the car up this morning and it was like nothing I've ever experienced before with it, the car sputtered all over the place and barely run with the rpm's darting up and down. I grabbed the laptop and plugged it in and the datalog is attached. A couple of things I noticed (I didn't ...

Thanks Matt. If I can get my hands on the LC1 wiring diagram I'll try to give that a try this evening (raining here unfortunately and I have no garage).

Re: Rusty tuner with VERY erratic AFR

Matt. I'm using the standard Innovate LC1 sensor.

On a seperate note, I went to recalibrate the TPS last night and found that it has zero voltage going to it regardless of pedal position. Bummer. Looks like I'm going to have to track down a bad connection or something.
