I am not sure why I had to go so much higher than what is recommended but it worked.

I wouldn't worry about it - if you engine wants a certain value then just put it in.

They'll be many other things that look odd (for example my engine needs a ton of ASE and Warmup (I'm talking something like 50 ...

Can't answer no.1 but in respect of no. 2, it's whatever your engine wants. Now, emissions is a different matter......

I could only get down to 60kpa with my ITB set up on a 2.1l Pinto motor.

Had to go Alpha-n as even a 10% throttle opening would push it up to 90kpa.
