you must have something wrong, all ford idle valves i've come across are closed till a voltage is applied.
have you got yours set to inverted per chance?
put up your msq and i'll have a peek for you.

you need to fit the feed for the valve off a boost pipe, this will equalise pressure on both sides of the valve and therefore the spring isn't under stain.
i run the same valve in my project and have no issues.
