He's trying to power the MS with the engine off so he can do tuning / setting adjustments, but doesn't want his coil powered in case the dizzy comes to a stop with the points closed. Unless *I* missed the point ...

The engine wants what the engine wants. The VE cells go up to 255, and sometimes that's what is needed. That said with "Incorporate AFR" and "Multiply MAP" turned on (or their B&G ...
