Re: The 'dot' in MAPdot?

Just think of the tuning screens, the red dot darts around all over when you stab the gas. How fast its accelerating/decelerating is your 'mapdot'.

Re: High Idle RPM

Hello, I still cannot get my RPM to go down. I pulled the intake put in a new gasket sealed everything as good as I could get and I now get around 1800 RPM. Could I have a problem with the idle air control (stepper motor). When I unplug it nothing happens. Could I possible have it wired incorrectly ...

Re: High Idle RPM

It really has to be a vacuum leak. There is no way the engine can run with no air, so if you block all the holes, and it is still running, then there is still a leak, guaranteed.

Unhook EVERYTHING that hooks into vacuum, including your brake booster, EGR, literally everything except for the MAP ...

Re: MS Rolls Royce Silver Spur

I don't see why not. The only difficulty is that you're treading your own ground, its not likely you will find anyone else who has tried.

Who makes the engine? Is the engine used in any other cars? Do you have info about the oem triggering setup? Basically all you really need is a compatible ...

Re: Inconsistant Start Condition

It is worth looking into cranking advance as well, as this has quite a significant impact. Also the cranking AIC PWM is quite important, because obviously the amount of cranking PW is dependent on how much air is getting into the engine. There isn't very much documentation about this setting... how ...

Re: Idle way too high

All of a sudden = obvious vacuum leak.

Check all fittings, tubes, etc. Many times tubes will split right at the clamp because of the vibration. Maybe there is a split or leak in the line going to the MS MAP sensor. Could be a tear in the brake booster diaphragm.

try posting on the innovate forum. It's a pretty straightforward hookup, maybe there is something wrong with your unit.

Re: Tuning and LC-1

I think that's what they do when the sensor goes bad. From what I have read most people with this problem get a new sensor, re-calibrate, and everything is ok.

You can try just re-calibrating it, it may still work.

Re: NOISE: How to size a capacitor, and what types?

You guys may want to check out some car-pc power supplies. Carnetix makes many which are simply DC to DC, filtered and isolated power supplies. The output voltage will stay at 12Volts with any input from 5-18 volts DC, and they should filter out any RF coming in on the power lines.

I have one in ...

Re: toggle switch S relay

absolutely do it yourself then. I have the exact setup. My DB37 breaks out to 2 long terminal strips, mounted about a foot away from the ms box. From there I have a small fusebox-type-thing, a couple of relays, the LC-1 stuff, etc. I soldered the ring terminals for both sides of each rail on the ...

Re: toggle switch S relay

Ya exactly. If you understand how a relay works and know how to properly wire it (soldering is good, but then you can never un-plug it in case of a failure). I use female crimps, I use dozens per day as part of my work, and I haven't had one fail in years. I agree on the soldering, all signal wires ...

relays are great but I wouldn't waste your time with the relay board. As long as you have a proper crimper, just wire them up yourself.

Re: TPS% as base for max performance

good discussion... how far would this advance be, and how do we know when we hit it? Say we shoot for 100km/hr reference speed. Do we shoot for the lowest kPa we can get while holding that exact speed? What are the safe limits... will it knock audibly while just cruising? I currently run a max of 44 ...

Re: Trigger wheel gap EDIS

I dont think it will matter as long as your balancer is smooth. I have my trigger wheel welded directly to the crank pulley, with no gap at all. They are both the same size around and I have never experienced any false triggering. The only trouble I've ever had from the VR is the wiring breaking ...

Re: Oscillations

def. if your rpm's are wavering, then the fuel calculation will follow. It would not affect the 2 temperature sensors, nor the tps sensor. It will affect the map, because map will vary with rpm. In turn, the map varies the injector PW, as well as the ignition timing. This will in turn vary the AFR ...

Re: (me again ..) shifting VE-table values after changing ReqFue

The ASE, WUE, Cranking PW, all that extra stuff, is all scaled to Req_fuel, and none of it gets changed by the tool you just used to scale your VE.

What that means is that all your values for starting and warmup enrichments, as well as a slew of other variables, are now going to be 'off' by the ...

Re: MS-2 with Knock Sensor

I googled knock sense ms. this is the first hit.

http://www.viatrack.ca/

go down to the megasquirt specific one, order that. Its essentially a small amp with a bandpass filter tuned to your knock frequency, which outputs a pulse when knock is detected. The pulse is fed to MS, which can be setup ...
