Awesome. Are those opto-isolators on the ignition output?

I guess the only real difference between this and EDIS-6/8 are the outputs.

I don't think so... I think they're just big, fat transistors. I'm hoping someone comes by here with specific knowledge of transistor construction that shed a ...

Inside of the EDIS-4 Module

Hey everyone-

I popped the top off of an EDIS-4 module to see what's inside, and thought the picture I took was worth sharing. Notice the two ignition output transistors on the right... pretty cool. The blackness around the transistor on the right is simply my grubby fingerprint on top of the ...

No MS2's for now. However, this ECU will be able to switch between EDIS and 420A modes with a jumper on the daughterboard.

Thanks,

I bought a 3/32 drill bit and it worked perfectly for the relay board case. Turns out that is the only problem. I went to predrill the MS case and the extrusion is already 3/32! No problem with those screws. It was the relay extrusion that was causing the problem. Thanks for the help!

Re: Case screw drill bit size?

Rodney,
Just a freindly suggestion:
If they are available down there, try to go to a "Robertson" type screw. Very simple, strong, and efficient.
Available in all types from wood/steel to machine screws. Once you've tried them you won't want anything else!

I haven't had too much trouble with the MegaSquirt cases, but I've busted the heads off of screws on the relay board cases many times. I chase those holes with a 3/32" drill bit in a hand drill, and it works great. Perfectly sized hole. That's assuming you're using the 3/8" sheetmetal screws (not ...

I have a suggestion... ditch the LED clips.

I have done this on the MS units I sell. I just reduced the LED hole size to 0.200 (so the LED fits nicely by itself), and lowered the hole so that the bottom of the hole is 1/16" above the PCB. The LED leads position the LED in the hole very well, and ...

Go to the junkyard and rip out a wiring harness from an EFI vehicle. A GM vehicle especialy will have about a bajillion (yes, a bajillion) different color combos.

Don't be shy about it. Find a nice long section and just hack it off at two ends far enough appart to suit your length needs.

The last ...

Jesse-

Weather Pack connectors would work great for rewiring your car. If I
were you, I'd just buy a crimping tool from Summit (there's a link on
my site in the description for the connectors) and I'll just sell you
uncrimped connectors. Also, if you come up with a list of wires you
need, I can ...

Their prices on weather pack connectors are actually a
little higher than mine, considering that I sell mine
as a set rather than just the half that goes to the
sensor/device, and mine are pigtails rather than
unassembled connectors (unless someone wants 'em
unassembled.)

I'm targeting people who ...

I've looked for injector (and sensor) connector
pigtails at parts stores and auto electric shops, and
the cheapest price I could find for an injector
connector is $7 each, if purchased 20 at a time.
Coolant temp and intake air temp sensor connectors
were something like $10 each.

As for weatherpack ...

what watt soldering iron would you reccomend?

I use a $7 25W iron. It might be overkill for some of the electronic components (I just move quickly, I guess), but it barely gets the job done when it comes to soldering 14-gauge wire to the harness. It takes a little bit of time for the heat to penetrate through that large mass. Has anyone ...
