Re: E85 AFR table

Yea, something like that.. Just expect to have to re-tune fuel to start up. I think I did it with req_fuel in general... That was enough for me to put-put away from the pump.
It took a surprising amount of fuel.

Turbos love E85 though.. :-)

Re: E85 AFR table

I haven't tried going leaner. Just be aware that AFR targets are not going to allow you to start up.. You're going to be 20-30% lean across your fuel map and depending on AFR targets, even with high EGO correction probably won't work very well - might limp you home, but probably not. It'll be dying ...

Re: E85 AFR table

I don't quite understand the question..
You indicated that you could make "no changes" other than re-tune the VEs.

Retuning the VEs is a change.. :-)

Practically speaking from someone who has made this change at the pump.. The first time I tried it, I nearly pooped myself. I added a tank of E85 ...

Can Megasquirt control GM CSFI via batch fire?

So a 97 Blazer came up locally that has a relatively new 4.3L in it. It's complete and the price is right..
I'm looking at using it in an 88 Runner. I want to megasquirt it - for the tuning/control and maybe for use with a little 100k rpm power adder.
Here's what I don't know. 1997 W-Code 4.3L have ...

Re: 650cc injectors on 2.0L turbo 4cyl?

I'm running 440cc injectors on a 2.4L motor. It works fine.
With E85, I'm exceeding 100% duty cycle, so I know I need to upgrade.
Trucks like mine seem to run fine in the 550-560cc/min range. By my calculations, that's the safe limit for idle resolution.

In practicality, however, you may be able to ...

Dunno if this applies to ESA, but there is an interesting how-to in regard to early 22R ignitions systems and using a bosch unit instead of driving the factory ignitor.

Bosch unit apparently controls dwell itself:

It should be around 4-7 k-ohms in ice water, and around 0.2 k-ohms in boiling water.

On the 22re, the water and intake air temp sensors are different..
Here are the details, I can't confirm if this works with the MR2, but the measurements are in line.

Notes:
1) ESA is NOT VAST. My post doesn't apply to the ESA system.
2) The toyota FSM are not very good about the use of the term "ESA" - they use it as a "generic" term in my FSM.. Electronic Spark Advance when it's actually a VAST system. (just FYI) - the only way to know for sure is to look in ...

This is where you get to ask for vehicle specific information.. I know it's not driven from the negative coil on the pickup/4runner. Guys using megasquirt and swapping in an MSD ignition system have to "condition" the tach output of the MSD so it can be accepted by the OEM tach. I don't know much ...

andy
Yes.
On some Toyota vehicles - OEM tach and AC pull up are also dependent upon output from the VAST system. NO vast = no tach and no ac without other mods.

David, might ping me via email.. I've got a couple of ideas for a low dollar (relative) stroker motor that should be at the right compression for a turbo...

Even without a stoker, if you can use the 22RTE pistons, you're setup well.

There's someone here who also dyno'd a 1993 22RE "stock" motor ...

22RE (1988) EZterm constants

FYI - water temp was measured, intake temp pulled from the manual:

Points for use with EZ therm:
Stock Water Temperature Sensor
32 deg F = 6.02 Kohm
77 deg F = 2.080 Kohm
212 deg F = 230 ohm

Stock Intake Temperature Sensor
4 deg F 15 Kohm
32 deg F 5.5 Kohm
68 deg F 2.5 kohm
140 deg F .55 Kohm

Toyota VAST ignition and MS-II

So I've read over the information provided by lance and other contributors: http://www.megamanual.com/ms2/vast.htm I'm doing a 1988 Toyota 4runner (22re) that uses VAST as OEM. Surface mount or not, the leads can break.
It IAT that I used from Holley simply wrapped the whole thing up in some heat shrink tubing. If the leads break, the tubing still holds.

So I've got a thermister going through an 1/8 NPT pipe fitting (brass) - insulated from the fitting with JB Weld.

I think I still have heat soak. My MAT readings are around 190 F during normal driving. Not a lot of variation...

Re: Bosh makes a nice external fuel pump.

The GPZ1100 (EFI)
and GPZ 750 turbo (EFI) pumps are about the same.
Both are high pressure (40psi+) pumps.

The pump for the ZX-11 is not.

If you need a high pressure pump for the Kawasaki - PM me, there's an automotive replacement... The Kawasaki pump for the GPZ is well over $300.
