My recommendation is to buy a Weller WTCPT Temperature Controlled Soldering Station. They are the Porsche 911 of industrial soldering irons...

Thats actually the station i have. Got mine on sale for 110$.

Weller makes good soldering irons for the price.
I'd recommend a 25W Weller for the beginner.
