Re: Megasquirt fuse keeps blowing

Sounds like you might have a problem with the voltage regulator....that's where I would start.

Re: position of injectors

It should run, but you will have alot of puddling happening...especially at lower engine speeds. If you have large injectors, it may be a bit trick to tune cold idle. Well, idle in general.

You may also notice that you accel enrichments will be high. Idealy, you want the injectors facing and ...

Re: safe fluid for evaluating injector spray pattern

I would just use fuel and be extra cautious of the surrounding conditions. Having a fire extinguisher on hand would be a good idea too.

I could think of a few fluids that you could test with....PS fluid, ATF, brake fluid...the mineral oil and glyersin you mentioned, but they are alot thinker then ...

Re: MS on an Ecotec 4

You may want to use a 2.0L LSJ or LNF crank...or even the LE5 (2.4l). They all come with a 60-2 tooth reluctor wheel on the crank.

If you don't want to use one of the L61 (2.2L) cranks, IDK how you would get an RPM siganl...but I would assume you could get it form the ICM.

If you us the MS2 extra ...

Re: GM IAC, Why won't it work?

I know for a fact, it the stock B&G setup, if the polarity is reversed, the chip will be ok.

I had mine all sorts of backwards and it wouldn't move. I flip some wires around and it would move backwards. When it moved backwards, I then switched the greens and blues as per the megamanual says and ...

Re: IAC control...code revision?

Well, I got it to work...sort of.

It seems the some confused person wired the IAC motor backwards. When it was suppose to be going to the seat, it was pulling open until is got suck.

I rewired it and it moves the proper directions now. But it doesn't update the pintle when its cold. The gauge ...

Re: IAC control...code revision?

Is it possible that if the motor spins out away from the seat at startup it gets stuck, and while your OTC motor tester is strong enough(can source enough current) to pull it back, the chip on the processor can't ?

Interesting conjecture. I'll have to look into that.

Re: IAC control...code revision?

I can watch it change on the MT gauge, but there is no effect on the idle speed.

It also doesn't seem to make any difference what the crank/cold start postions are. It always opens it enought o rev up to 3k.

I thought I might have had the iac wired reverse, so I got the other t-body to hook up and ...

Re: IAC control...code revision?

Hummm.It does move on start-up...but that's it.

I turned the min steps to 5. Hyp is set low so that I can get change updates faster....but it always does the same thing.
Same thing being that it will idle up to 3K and it won't change...no matter the crank/table values. The only way for me to get it ...

IAC control...code revision?

I remember there being an issue a while back with some of the older code and IAC control. The IAC would stop working after a short period of time...30secs....60secs...something like that.

I seem to be experiencing a similar issue. I can start the car and observe another IAC in a t-body. It will ...

Re: X-tau while cranking...causing flood

Well, I figured it out. It had NOTHING to do with the tune. In fact it was just something stupid that was easily thought to be ok....it was the damned spark plugs. Even thought I dried the out and cleaned them off with a glass beader, they where not firing until they for hot. There must be somthing ...

Re: X-tau while cranking...causing flood

Well...it flooded out on me again this morning. Its really starting to piss me off.

With x-tau off, its still giving me cranking pulse higher then it should. Cranking is set to 1.2ms, its despensing 2.4-3.0ms.
Its like its pulling from the VE table and not the cranking table. Normally it ...

Re: X-tau while cranking...causing flood

I haven't been using it...it WAS accednentily set a few days ago for some reason. At first, I thought that was my problem. I tried it out a year or so ago it it flipped out like you said, so I just switched it to accl/dec only and had been running it like that since.

Well, I turned the puddle (x ...

Re: X-tau while cranking...causing flood

I think I fugured it out. I turned the puddle down under 600 and it started fro me when I left for luch today. The real test will be tomorrow when I need to get to work. Re: X-tau while cranking...causing flood

I just thought of something. I have x-tau set for acc/decel only, It gave me issues beofre set as warm-up and acc/decel.
How does ith work then? Does it just use the x-tau numbers as if the system was warm already? I was under the impression that it did start to take action while the engine is in ...

Re: X-tau while cranking...causing flood

Prime is setto 1.0ms.
Cranking set at 1.2ms

I think what I'll need to do is to turn x-tau down at 600 rpm, move the next point lower in rpm (say 900) so I can still have the x-tau in low rpm, but not as much in cranking.
