Inside of the EDIS-4 Module

Post by Rodney Sparks »

Hey everyone-

I popped the top off of an EDIS-4 module to see what's inside, and thought the picture I took was worth sharing. Notice the two ignition output transistors on the right... pretty cool. The blackness around the transistor on the right is simply my grubby fingerprint on top of the pristine clear silicone potting material.

Awesome. Are those opto-isolators on the ignition output?

I guess the only real difference between this and EDIS-6/8 are the outputs.

I don't think so... I think they're just big, fat transistors. I'm hoping someone comes by here with specific knowledge of transistor construction that shed a little more light...
