Confusing VR signal

Post by Enchanter »

Iam currently bench testing my setup. MS2 v3 2.6
Im using a Toyota 2jzge dissy (VR) 24 teeth with 2 opposite teeth missing to simulate a 12-1 wheel.

When I turn the dissy over with the cordless drill I would expect a clean rpm signal but it jumps all over the place. I have tried swaping the vr wires over but get the same effect.

I have tested the voltage with a multi meter and it reaches about 2.1volts.

any ideas on what to try to fix this problem.

Cheers, Tim :)

Think I might be able to help here as i made an engine simulator with a sewing machine motor in a coffee tin etc etc and the magnetic field off the motor sent me round the bend with this one, what you need to do is shield the VR sensor somehow from the magnetic rubbish being generated by your drill ...I did this by a piece of thin steel plate curved around the VR.

wow thats not somthing i would have thought of for quite a while had I been left to my own devices lol

I will give the theory a test, I will try and turn the dissy with somthing else non motorised and see what happens.
