What coilpacks are you running with EDIS

Post by classic_chevy »

I am curious to see what everyone is running for coilpacks with an EDIS setup... I am using GM style coilpacks with a modified base to remove built in ignitor circuit. I have a V-8 and these coilpacks are quite bulky, kind of like stock ford. I chose these because of the higher voltage output... ACCEL 140017 with 45,000 V max voltage. The other reason was for the HEI style plug end made it easy to make my own plug wires. Any one else experimented with different coilpacks? I am looking for something compact yet powerful...

Thanks
:)

I pulled some Kia coilpacks at the yard. They are very small and twin post. Anyone use these?

Question for you guys with GM coil packs - how did you set up the mounting and electrical connection for them? My buddy and I are setting up EDIS on our cars and want to run with the GM coil packs (for a number of unimportant reasons...) and would really like to know a clean way to set it up : )

I'm using an ACCEL EDIS4 coil. It's supposed to be 42,000 volts. I'll be trying out an MSD EDIS4 coil, as well.

I'm using junk yard Saturn SC2 (Hitachi) coils directly fired by Microsquirt. I had considered the Subaru coil pack, because it is nice and compact, but shied away from it because of the less common connectors it uses.

I am using the Saturn Coilpacks also and am also utilizing the coilpack base which I modified to eliminate the internal igniter circuit. Just got the weatherpacks, base and coilpacks from junkyard.
