Recommendation for TPS??

Post by jagdude »

Hi,
Can anyone recommend a TPS for a bosch-style throttle body. It's on a 1982 Jaguar XJ6 that I'm megasquirting. The throttle body has the throttle shaft that comes out around 1.5 inches. The shaft has one side flattened and was originally designed to insert into a switch that indicated closed or wide open throttle. I've tried a TPS from a Nissan which fits nicely but the output resistance seems to go down as the throttle opens and up as it closes wich I don'tthink MS likes. Also, the values that it outputs seem to cause MS to go into 'Flood Clear ' mode.

Thanks,

Jim

That sounds interesting. It sounds like your Nissan TPS is just wired back-wards. You should be able to get it to work, I would check it again. I think that after it is wired properly and then calibrated with the MS in mega tune it will work nice.

Actually, we wired the TPS exactly as per Nissan's instructions but it turns out that my throttle rotates the other way so yes, I had to swap the power and ground wires. It was Matt at DIY Autotune who pointed it out first. Thanks Matt!!

The TPS works now. Have to install the throttle body back in the car and see if it will start.
