Injector problems

Post by cukali »

Here is my problem and setup.

v3 board.
BMW 325 1986
I milled a trigger wheel using the stock damper. 24-1 and used a ford crank sensor.
Using High impetance 22lb injectors
Stimulator worked before selecting the VR curcuit.

Problem, my injector LED does not flash when cranking or running. Car runs about 3 seconds and shuts off. Runs when primed. My injector pulse width stays the same no matter RPMs or MAP signal. It goes up if I change the VE table or prime pulse width, but not vary during cranking or running. Checked all wires, all settings. Now I am thinking my crank wheel might be unique, I milled 23 groves every 20degrees they are square and are about 1/4 in deep. I am using "rising edge" , "standard coil charge", "going High". I am using high impotence settings, injectors opening time of 1.0-3.0 msec (no difference), pulse current limit % is 100, pwm theshold is 24.5 msec, pwm period is 40usec.

If anyone has an idea of my problem please let me know.

thnx

First question - do you get a good RPM signal while cranking?

Also, if you could post your MSQ file, I'll be glad to check your settings.

Ok, update..... I believe I have a board issue.

I converted back to HALL/OPTICAL curcuit to check the stim again..... I DO NOT get the INJ LEDs to flash. They flicker once when I turn off the RPMS and sometimes I can get them to flash if I wiggle the RPM POT rapidly.

The O2 sensor does the same thing....updates only when I start/stop the RPMs. I used another vehicles program that I built MSII for and nothing.

I cannot find the problem in the curcuits.... should I begin replacing transistors?

Turn off the wheel decoder when you check it on the Stim and let me know if you get the injector lights to work.

Good news, I got it to work. I thought I had 180deg delay on the injectors, unfourtunatley they speak degrees but it works on %. So, I moved it to 0 for now and they fired up.

Now I have another issue but I believe its noise in the VR curcuit or I need to reverse my wores for the sensor. My wheel has grooves instead of teeth and the grooves are further apart than teeth. It fires right up, but dies immediately from ignition resets. So basically the engine starts and stops rapidly...sounds like a sick cam!

Anyway, if you know of a setting that may work with my custom trigger wheel, let me know your ideas. The grooves are square and every 20deg on the pulley, missing tooth passes sensor JUST AFTER TDC which is an issue since it would cause a 22 teeth delay so I am going to move it out of the factory hold and to the other side. It runs with 22 delay but thats a bit confusing.
