LT1 Intake on SBC

Post by Wild Bill »

Greetings everybody! Prettymuch ready to make the plunge and buy a kit for the LT1 inake that's going on an old style small block Chevy for my boys and I Porsche 944 project. Now I can Mod the intake for a distributor however going without a distributor sounds appealing..

Megasquirt II is in order as I want IAC to work regardless and I thought I read, (however could be mistaken) that I don't need to run an EDIS module with the latest version of MS II? If I wanted to run individual coils for each spark plug can I and do I need to run an aditional coil driver board?

Also... regarding MS I with MS II daughterboard... will the older generation MS I with daughterboard end up being as good as a new version MS II? Opportunity to pick up unused MS 1 kit at half price... Just have to decide if I should trust the guy re: lost components etc. over $70.00 savings?

This engine will have a new flat tappet camshaft in it and will need to be broken in immediatly upon starting... I am sure running timing at 10 degrees would be fine for the duration however wondering if it would be better to install a carbed induction system for the cam break-in, or if initial start-up and run to 2500-3000 rpm would require to much cranking/intermitant runs?

Thanks for all your help! Now off to read the assembly manual again! Bill

Didn't realize the info on the website was outdated? Anyways started reading the stuff on the forum and answered my own question
re: coils. Cooler looks of individual coils are out of my budget...
