Yesterday I looked up the specs for that coil and discovered that it outputs 17K volts. I also understand that the stock ignition system cannot support a higher output coil. However, with MS2 controlling my spark, I should be able to step up to a hotter, higher voltage, coil. My questions:
1). Can I run a 45K volt, oil filled, MSD coil with MS2?
2). Would it really be that advantagous to switch to a larger coil, (and 8mm. wires likely), or just leave it alone.
3). Should I increase the spark plug gap if I increase the coil ouptup voltage?
If it makes any difference: I'm running a, (pertronix), hall effect pickup in the locked dizzy that fires my coil through the coil wire to the dizzy, and through to the plugs via the rotor and plug wires, (just like stock, only with MS2 controlling the timing).
If upgrading the coil seems like a good idea, I'll try it, and, maybe later, upgrade to a VR sensor and 36-1 wheel on the crankshaft pulley.
