Which HEI distributor?

Post by Doublehead »

Hi. I'm new to Megasquirt but I want to use it in my Jeep with a SBC 350. I have a 4-pin HEI distributor. Can I modify it and use a 7-pin module and remove the vacuum-advance, and if so, how do I do it?
Maybe I should just get a 7 pin distributor? What cars came with them. I'd prefer to keep the coil in the cap if possible.

The 7 and 8 pin distributors are a direct bolt in. The various distributors are described in the manual, under GM HEI. at the following link
