Complete EFI intake manifold for MOPAR 440?

Post by Philip Lochner »

Hi all

I'm considering buying a car with a MOPAR 440* engine equipped with the std 4 barrel carb and squirting it with MS (need I have said that last bit???). I know I could fit TBI injection in place of the carbs but I'm hoping to find a suitable "bolt-on" multiport EFI intake manifold with one injector per port.

Does anyone know if this type of manifold is available for the 440? IF so, please point me to a supplier(s).

If I could really have my way, this manifold should come complete with throttle body, TPS, idle air controller (stepper or PWM), injectors, fuel rail, fuel pressure regulator.

TIA
Philip

* At least once in my life I want to have one of these under my back side - but only under MS control!!
Best regards

Edelbrock list pn EDL-35090 with 29 lb injectors or EDL-35080 with 35 lb injectors for the 413/426 wedge 440 listed in the Summit Catalog.
Listed at $3,089.95 and $3115.95

It looks like Ollie listed the price for Edelbrock's whole kit, the manifolds alone are a good bit cheaper:

http://www.summitracing.com/parts/EDL-7144/ - $450 for the Pro-Flo
http://www.summitracing.com/parts/EDL-29545/ - $300 for a Victor with EFI bungs

Reportedly the intake in the full Edelbrock kit is slightly different than the 'loose' manifold, but I've never heard what that difference is.

The ProFlo has a lower RPM range than the Victor, and the Victor needs either an elbow and a 1-throat TB or a directly-mounted 4-V TB (but those are $400 by themselves  ).

For a ProFlo (or the elbow), the TB can be either a GM LS-series or a Ford 5.0, and they will mount the TPS and IAC. You can get them from Eddy or get new/used ones on Ebay. Eddy has the rails, but you'll have to get the regulator separately. It's all up to your wallet really, you can order anything your heart desires.

I have a ProFlo sitting on a shelf (waiting for me to get off my butt) and it's a nice looking piece. It shows to have lower hood clearance than some taller manifolds with carb and aircleaner, so that's a big plus. My only complaint is the manifold is natural aluminum, but the rails are black. :?: I may paint it all 60s turquoise to confuse the Hemi-orange musclecar guys.
Needs to get the toes out of the water and just jump off the diving board!!!
current EFI project:
65 Chrysler 300L, 413, working on inline dual GM TBI units, will run with MS2. Hoping to have factory-style appearance.

I do know that Edelbrock has some manifolds they will only sell as part of a full kit. For example, you can't buy their 2-bbl Chevy intake manifold on its own, only with their ECU and wiring.

Which is why our Nova is using a Holley / Weiand manifold...
