injectors stuck open

Post by Deaninkc »

A couple of years ago I blew the engine up in my MS'd race car (91' Capri, same engine as 1600 Miata) and it has sat until recently. I now seem to out of my personal recession, so I build a new engine for it. The MS is a MSI, My laptop also blew up so I had to get another one and Mega Tune did not seem to work on it so I am using Tuner Studio. Tried firing it up and it turned over slowly an and fired for a few second but then died. I replaced the starter and it now spins faster but still does not fire only getting an occasional pop. Everything seemed to working OK and it looked good on the stimulator. The engine is exactly the same as when I ran it for two year prior to parking it. Now all of a sudden the fuel pump stays on and the injectors seem to open up and stay open, I can hear them spraying when I listen at the open throttle. Any ideas? I'm thinking about trying to burn new S19 code into it but I have never had to do this in the past. It still seems to work fine on the stimulator. Any ideas?

If the stim is showing correct operation, likely a wiring fault? The pump should run for a couple is seconds at switch on - then not again until it receives an ignition signal.
An LED across an actual injector (see details of how to make one in the MegaManual) or a dwell meter should show what the injectors are doing at low RPM , but check both drive circuits.
