Adding a fuel pressure sensor to my MS2
Read the manual to see if your question is answered there before posting. Many users will not reply if the answer is already available in the manual.
If your question is about troubleshooting, configuration, or tuning, you MUST include your processor type (MS-I or MS-II) and code version in your post. If your question is about PCB assembly or modifications, you must also include the main board version number (1.01, 2.2 or 3.0).
If you have questions about MS1/Extra or MS2/Extra code configuration or tuning, please post them at www.msextra.com Such questions posted here will be moved to: a temporary MSextra sub-forum, where they will be removed after 7 days
The full forum rules are here: Forum Rules, be sure to read them all regularly.

Adding a fuel pressure sensor to my MS2
I want to add a Fuel Pressure Sensor to my MS2 V3 running B&G code V2.89.
Here is the sensor:
http://www.aemelectronics.com/100-psig- ... s0l0js7ste
Now for the questions:
1.) Is it possible to hook this into the JS4 imput? If not, where can I add it?
2.) How EXACTLY do I need to reconfigure my MS2 board to accept this unput, (wiring diagram, resistors, whatever)?
3.) Do I need the GPIO board in order to add this sensor?
4.) How do I configure MT to datalog and display the input from this sensor? By this I am asking for a more detailed explanation than "edit the ini file". How EXACTLY do I need to change the ini file?
Thanks in advance.

A 1K resistor from JS4 to the sensor output should be OK at a minimum - a duplicate of the TPS input circuit may be better.2.) How EXACTLY do I need to reconfigure my MS2 board to accept this unput, (wiring diagram, resistors, whatever)?
No.3.) Do I need the GPIO board in order to add this sensor?
That I don't have - there is a write-up on the MS2/Extra site that migth be close enough, but I haven't tried it myself with B&G code.4.) Been reading that all morning, between moments of banging my head against the wall.
I'll give it a shot.

Is this true for a regular MS2 board as well? In other words, can I use JS5 instead of JS4?

I tried one of these VDO pressure senders:LesTroyer wrote:not to hijack the tread - but why not use an oil pressure sendor -- most have the same range & would think the materials used would be able to handle gas as well as oil -- or does the ethonol cause a failure.

They work, but they are slow and not particularly accurate. I was using it for electronic fuel pressure regulation.
I ended up using a Bosch Fuel Rail Pressure (FRP) sensor that's commonly found on mid-2000 Ford Focus on many Ford trucks.
You can read about it here:
http://www.madhu.com/content/Main/FuelPumpController
There was a guy on eBay that was selling the sensor for $20 or so. You can find them at junk yards also. It's five volt compatible. I called Bosch and got the pin connections. It's documented on the website above.

Were you able to tie it into an MS2 and datalog it?msiddalingaiah wrote:I ended up using a Bosch Fuel Rail Pressure (FRP) sensor that's commonly found on mid-2000 Ford Focus on many Ford trucks.

I only had MS-I at the time, but myk777 did exactly what you want to do:devastator wrote:Were you able to tie it into an MS2 and datalog it?

His datalogs are in the thread.
You might contact him for the details.

Re: Adding a fuel pressure sensor to my MS2
Thanks for the response. My concern is that all of the code I see is for MS1 or MS2-Extra, and not for MS2. Certainly I can't be the first to do this, but I'll be darned if I can find anyone posting up how they did it.msiddalingaiah wrote:I only had MS-I at the time, but myk777 did exactly what you want to do:

Re: Adding a fuel pressure sensor to my MS2
I believe myk777 was using MS2. As Matt said earlier, you can connect the AEM sensor output (green wire) to JS4 through a 1K resistor.devastator wrote:Thanks for the response. Connect the red wire to +5 volts (VRef) and the black wire to ground.
You can test it out on the bench. Just connect to JS4 to VRef (careful not to connect it to +12!!) and you should see 5V in MegaTune/TunerStudio.
That should do it.
