injector angle

Post by hessdawg »

hey everybody
i have an olds 455 that i am converting from tbi to mpfi. i have searched all over for answers to this but cans find any
according to another guy idea injector angle for a 455 is 37 degrees. all the aftermarket intakes have the fuel injectors pointing strait up.
does this make a huge difference in idle/drivability / tuning / horsepower / fuel economy ????

whats the ideal injector angle in relation to the intake valve????

thanks brad

Just guessing, but would it make a difference between batch and sequential?

Usually, the ideal way to angle the injectors is whatever points at the intake valves. An injector that is pointed elsewhere will get more fuel puddling in the intake and require more acceleration enrichment, but can still be tuned for pretty good drivability. I used to have a Chrysler 2.5 - you'd never guess that the injector angle was way off the "ideal" value, from the factory. Good intake air flow generally trumps "ideal" injector locations.
