I have and adaptor from DIYAutoTune and bought a Jeep air valve for IAC. Apparently the pintle of the valve doesn't reach the seat. Is this a normal condition and does it 'set ' itself when activated ?

"Does not reach the seat?" As in, does not close fully?

I doubt that VERY much. I would fully expect the pintle to be able to close all air flow.

Not sure what you mean by "SET IT SELF". Essentially YOU have to set it by setting the number of steps it has to open (retract) at switch on, the # of steps to close (move forward) to the crank position , and the positions it has to be at various CLT temps in order to maintain the desired idle speed as the engine warms up.
