Auto tune not changing VE tables

I am getting the car tuned in a little better all the time but when I try to run auto tune to tweak the VE tables, the values never change. I am running a MS-II v3 with 2.88 code and a LC-1 wideband sensor.

The EGO correction does work but even after I run auto tune for a while then burn to ecu, no VE values change.

Any suggestions?

Dave

Well, since you asked for any suggestions, I'd suggest using MegalogViewer to adjust the VE tables from a datalog. It's not "real-time" but it averages the resluts and gives fewer "spikes" than Autotune IMHO.

How do you use a VE table from the log viewer and import and exchange to the MS II ?

After running your VE table through MLV's analyzer, you have the option of saving this modified version of the table if you want.
After you save it, turn on MT, (and MS), and load this new file. MS will ask you if you want to burn it to the controller. Answer yes and wait until you get the ready signal again. Start it up and try this new VE table. This is one of the awesome things about MS; you can always return to a previous MSQ if you want, (and if you saved it).

Thanks for the advice - I will give it a shot this weekend.

What does the analyizer show or change or recommend? Does it do any of these things?

The analyzer in MLV will "look" at your datalog and attempt to alter your VE table based on the AFR values you have set in the AFR table. You have the option of saving these changes or ignoring them. The longer the datalog, the more accurate the changes. Still requires a little tweaking by hand sometimes, but it doesn't change in real time like Autotune. Using Autotune with a turbo is not recommended, but MLV does a pretty good job.

I am having the same issue with my MS and auto tune not burning the changes to the MS. It says it does but when i fetch the VE map from my MS its the origional one. I used devastators suggestion of running the anylizer and it is a very cool feature and is going to be a big help in the tuning of my car. I would still like to know why the MS doesnt take the changes when I run auto tune.

from what I understand, autotune just puts the X of WHERE you are tuning "automatically" on the green dot of where you are on your VE map....it doesn't automatically adjust your VE table (I don't think)

so when you choose "autotune" you still have to hit the Q and W keys to richen and lean out your VE table. E and R do the same thing but in steps of 5. autotune just makes it so that when you and a friend are driving down the road...yuo don't have to know WHERE you are on the map...you just get to a steady-state cruise, and you can bump up or down (manually) your VE table

Severnrc,
I think you are mis-understanding Autotune.

How many logs does it take typically to get the tables right ?

I did one run of about 15 minutes and did not feel much improvement.

Mine is aplug/play.

With MLV or Autotune?
Plug and Play?

MLV

A plug and play MS comes with a connector that fits the stock miata harness and a base tuned already installed.

Thanks :)

You're using a narrow band sensor, aren't you? That will limit the VE analyzer's effectiveness.

Yes, Narrow band :|
