Blown 327 with a MS-II and questions

So I decided that it would be a great idea to take the plunge and Megasquirt my hot rod. Currently I'm running a SBC 327 with a Weiand 6-71 on top. And I've recently purchased pretty much everything from DIYAutoTune.COM, to include MS-II, relay board, wire bundle, clt and iat senors, and pigtails. All I really need now are some good throttle bodies, the right size injectors and a WB O2 sensor. I've also retrofitted EDIS-8 to the motor as well to get full advantage of the MS. However, I have a few questions pertaining to the EDIS wiring and the relay board.
- -On the EDIS-8 Wiring diagram it says that Pin 24 of the DB37 is connected to the PIP wire on the EDIS module. What is Pin 24 on the relay board? I thought it was the ignition wire that comes in the wiring bundle.
- If I hook everything up correctly and enter the proper settings in theory the motor should start and run with a little tuning? I've read a few posts where people have had a car start and run the first time they turned it over.
- Also I would like to do all this stuff right the first time to prevent any extra cost and helpful input would be greatly appreciated

Matt, the default map should start most vehicles. Every car I have done has fired after a couple of cranks. Keeping it running though - is a different story. I think the default map was made for a V-8, and I have been starting 4 and 6 cylinder engines with it without too much hassle. I even started one car that had a shorted injector transistor, keeping 2 of the injectors fully on constantly, and it idled like that (not well).
As for your Edis wiring just make sure you have continuity between the relay board pin and pin 24 of the DB37. As long as you get the signal into that pin one way or another, it should be fine. Also the motor should run fine without the SAW line even connected, it will just default to 10 degrees advance, thats the beauty of EDIS. If your PIP line is wrong the MS will get no tach signal so that's an easy one to diagnose.
Once you start, it will be rich or lean, it will be up to you to figure that out and adjust the Req_fuel up and down to keep it running. Keep adjusting it if you have to during the first warm-up, and do not adjust the other settings yet. Once the engine is warm, tune the idle using the Req_fuel, until you have it near stoich. From this point, leave your Req_fuel alone, and start tuning using the VE table instead. The next time you start up, it might not want to take, but this time use the Afterstart Enrichment and Warm-up Wizard to make it behave, leaving your req_fuel alone. You should have a map good enough for a drive around the block within an hour or 2. Just have someone else drive, take it really slow, and have fun!

Wow! thanks that sheads some light on things. So the PIP signal goes into the tach input on the relay board or can I just leave it disconected for now?

The MS needs PIP, thats how it gets its tach signal.
The SAW from MS to EDIS can be disconnected, the edis gives a default to 10 degrees advance if it does not receive a SAW word.
Follow the manual as per what to connect where, everything in the manual is correct, whereas forum posts (including my own) don't always apply to your exact configuration.

Okay so I think I figured it out. The PIP goes into the for a tach input so that wont be to hard to find. Thanks for you fast replys

So I have MS-II with on a SBC 327 with Edis-8 I wired ever thing to the Edis and the relay board according to the MS manual. But I keep getting this intermittent tach signal, it will work for a while when cranking and then tappers off. I'm confused because everything worked fine for a few minutes but according to megatune the signal stops. My actual tach reads a signal about 160-180 rpms, and the motor still has spark. I'm lost and confused also, the fuel pump comes on for a few seconds when I turn the key, like to prime the system but then that's it. Any help would be great.
