VW TPS and idle control

hello people,

I have just started building my first MS (MS1 at mo, maybe upgrade to ms2 later).

I will be fitting it to a 1.8 20v turbo VW engine, the throttle body has both TPS and idle control (stepper motor I beleive), has anyone used both on the throttle body or will I have to fit a seperate idle control?

Thanks

Does it have cable actuation? Usually those TB's are drive-by-wire and won't accept a cable at all.

I switched to a passat 16V TB, which is cable, and used a regular 2-wire bosch pwm idle valve.

Taking a stab at that one, the idle control circuitry is contained on the MS2 daughter card, so until you upgraded to MS2, you would have to have separate idle valve. You could probably keep the original idle stepper in place, and physically adjust your idle speed manually by the stepper.

Otherwise, you will have to adjust idle speed with the butterflies similar to a carb with an adjustment screw if it even has one.

and for MS2

How many pins go to the idle control itself? Two or three and it's PWM, four or six and it's a stepper.
