Subaru Igniter

Hi,

I was wondering if anyone was using the Subaru igniter (P/N: 22438-AA030, DIS4-03, Hitachi) to drive their wasted spark coils? If so, how are you triggering it with your Megasquirt? According to the FSM, it looks like the factory ECM uses a transistor with the collector tied to 12V with a resistor. It would be easy enough to replicate that circuit but I wouldn't be sure what to use for the pull-up resistor. Does anyone have a suggestion on this? Thanks.

The easiest thing to do would be to "scope" the signal, and then try to get the signal from the MS as close as you can to it.

I don't actually have a Subaru to scope. I got the coil pack and igniter from the junkyard for use in my Sentra. I'm planning on going to wasted spark and using a 36-1 wheel. I may just try messing with it until I get it to work. Thanks.

I have looked at the FSM and havent seen a resistor in there. You should only need a logic level signal to it. I was told to use the GM DIS circuit to control that ignitor. It says 3.4V max in the FSM pinout. Though that is what the ECU puts out max.
