Megasquirt on a 1988 Dodge W100

Hello, I've been doing some reading on the system, and I would like to purchase and install one on my truck, because the stock ECU tables don't take kindly to any sort of engine modification. I've taken a look at the mega manual, but I still have a couple of questions:
If you choose a MAF, or a MAP/MAF combo system, do you still tune the tables, or is the MAF more hands-off? Would I have to re-tune the system after an engine change (new heads, hotter cam, etc.) with a MAF system?
Has anyone installed MegaSquirt with Chrysler sensors or ignitions? They aren't really mentioned in the manual.

MAF will still need a bit of tuning, particularly with the spark table. The fuel side will adjust a bit more for different mods.
I've heard that the TBI setups had a four tooth trigger wheel in the distributor, with the stock ECU triggering off both the leading and trailing edges. This is a bit of an oddball if that claim is true. Using the Lean Burn / ESC distributor from a few years earlier, though, is pretty easy. See this link for details:

There is a trigger wheel in the distributor? What does it do?

It's what turns the Hall effect sensor on and off. Tells the computer what the engine RPM is and when to fire the spark.

So you think the timing wheel in this distributor has 16 teeth, as opposed to just the normal eight (for a V8). If I disassembled it, is that what I'd be looking for?

I've heard they have four teeth instead of eight.

That is strange... So just get an old fashioned eight tooth distributor and call it good for MegaSquirt?

Yep, that's a pretty straightforward thing to set up. If you want to get fancy you could put a 36-1 trigger wheel on the crank.

I installed an EDIS-system on my 318 LA. So put the 36-1 wheel on the crank pulley. I can send you the drawings if you like.
But I am using a Volkswagen-sensor for the VR-sensor (I am situated in Germany).
Currently not running Megasquirt yet, only Megajolt and a carb. In the process of getting injected.
