trigger wheel sensor

Hello,
I am new on this forum.
I plan on using megasquirt on my 383 sbc engine, on a 67 Camaro.
I prepared the trigger wheel, which is now installed on the engine, but I have some problems finding a matching sensor.
I am looking for a VR or hall sensor.
the wheel is a 60-2 , made of 3mm steel, the diameter is 200mm.
the teeth width is 5.2mm, the gap width is 5.2mm, and the gap depth is 5mm.

My first idea was to use a 1gt101 sensor from honeywell,

but my wheel seems to small for this sensor, the only one I find is a fork sensor: SR17C-16:

Do you have others options for this kind of wheel?( I would have prefered a tubular sensor, but the only one I find are either very expensive or too large)
Is it possible to conect directly a vr sensor without using the HEI module on the 3.0 board?
Thanks in advance
Regards
Guillaume

Personally, I'd try to find one that's specifically designed for an automotive application, maybe something like one from an early 90's Ford edis system like THIS

Is there a specific wheel design to use with this sensor? doesn't it need a wider wheel?

The stock trigger wheel that this sensor is normal used with is definitely thicker than the one you're using maybe 5 or 6mm but I think it'll probably work for you anyways. I'm pretty sure we've used this type of sensor with an Electromotive HPX ignition system, and the trigger wheel we use with that system is at least as thin as the one you're using. I'll see if I can double check on that sensor for you.

I just talked to a friend of mine who's got about a thousand times more experience with VR sensors than I do and he says the Ford sensor should be fine with a 3mm thick trigger wheel.

Thank you, i will try that, we can also find these sensors in european ford I think. :D
Concerning the wiring, is the HEI module still needed to convert the signal to square wave, or is it possible to hook it directly on the 3.0 board?

I'm sure you'll be able to find some European cars with a suitable sensor, if not a Ford then a VW or something else. Double check the manuals but I'm almost positive the MS v3.0 has the appropriate VR circuitry on board.
