how does blended alpha-n work

specifically how do the rpm points work from blend to full map? is it scalar as well? is there a bad or good range of rpm from blend to pure map?
is it a bad idea to use my bottom 6x6 grid of my ve table specifically for my alpha-n conversion table so i can tune my alpha n specifically?

For blended alphaN there are 3 regions:
1. below rpm1 it uses alphaN to determine a pseudo map, and enters the VE table with this pseudo load value to get fueling.
2. between rpm1 and rpm2 it calculates both the pseudo alphaN map and the sensor map and interpolates between the two to get fueling. The closer you are to rpm1, the closer the fueling is to pure alphaN and the closer to rpm2, the closer the fueling is to pure map
3. Above rpm2, it uses only the sensor map to determine fueling.
The entire process can, if you so choose, be inverted to use sensor map below rpm1 and alphaN above rpm2.
There is a separate 6x6 table for the pseudo map as a function of rpm and tps. You can, if you want, set the psedo maps = the tps values for all rpms, then your VE table becomes a table of VE(rpm, tps) for rpms below rpm1, and VE(rpm, map) for rpms above rpm2.

While we're talking Alpha-N... I was wondering the last time I was tuning, before my car broke a few weeks ago...
When you try to use VE analyzer with Alpha-N... does it work properly? Or does VE Analyzer try to look at the actual MAP signal rather than the faked value? I know the little charts on the right side where you can see the dot bouncing around on the table in real-time does NOT appear to work properly.
FWIW, I'm using "pure" Alpha-N by having the SD blend threshold set beyond my rev limit.
