Crankcase Ventilation Problem? and Idle Valve for 1800cc?

I have converted a dual SU carbed Datsun to single throttle/plenum intake and am finding that it sucks the Valve cover gasket in which then leaks, and may possibly be causing oil leaks at the oilpan gasket as well.......

There is one hose barb from the valve cover which I've connected to the TB at a barb just ahead of the throttle plate. The throttle body is from an old 2.3L 4 cyl Ford Tempo (about 50mm).

I'm guessing that there is still too much vaccuum generated there and I may be able to cure this by moving the hose connection away fron the throttle plate and closer to the air filter. I am also getting leaks from the oilpan/rear main rope seal which I am not sure if it could be related......... :(
Any thoughts?

Also any recomendations for an on/off idle valve for an 1800cc 4 cyl?
I am looking for something that will get me about 3-400 rpm. I have tried a couple of junkyard finds (don't remember what from  ) that barely net me 100 rpm...

Thanks
Daryl

Ok, I am going to move the hose connection up the intake tract and away from the throttle body. That seems to be close to what the factory did in the late '60s with the hose routed to the air cleaner housing.

Had considered putting in a full PCV system with a proper PCV valve, but I'm not keen on drilling holes into a factory aluminum valve cover. May see what the later forklift valve covers had...........
