this is a touch out of left field but, i want to ask and get some intelligent input on this.

a few days back i was helping a older friend work on his car and as we were working i was telling him about the noise issues i have with ms. my older friend is a retired nuclear sub tech. no idea what exactly what he did but hes no dummy by any means. as i told him about the noise he remembers a issue he once dealt with on a sub that was a matter of noise and after trying many different textbook possibilities to get rid of it, they stumbled on a solution. they used aluminum foil wrapped around the wires that were affected by the noise. basically the aluminum helped to reflect the offending signals and the multiple edges where the alum. foil was krinkled up helped to distort them to a point they couldnt get thru, therefore reducing the bleed of signals down to a acceptable level. any thoughts on this or was this just something that seemed to work at the moment?
could something of the sort be used to alleviate noise in ms systems in conjunction with shielded wire.

It's a pretty common way to jury rig a substitute for a coax cable. I've never seen any comparisons to see if it's any more effective than normal shielding.

is it worth doing to sensitive wires that already have shielding? kind of a second layer of protection.
