Warmup enrichment bins

I could find my exact question in the megamanual.

I was trying to figure out how to lean the engine out during warmup as right now its extremely rich.

I started messing with the Warmup enrichment bins and it seemed to help but I wanted to make sure I was going in the right direction.

If you LOWER the percentage at any given coolant temp, is this truly leaning the engine out? It seemed to help with my AFR at idle when lowering the percentages and the off idle throttle crispness improved dramatically.

But I have numbers of 93% @ 100*F and 80% @ 130*F. Is that normal or should I be looking to change something else?

Thanks,

Andrew,

What code do you have?

If you have B&G code, numbers below 100 mean that the engine is leaner than while fully warmed up (100% is NO warm-up enrichment), and probably indicate that the VE table is too rich. See: http://www.megamanual.com/ms2/tune.htm#csenrich

Lance.

I have the version 2.300 code.

Okay, so essentially if I have to drop the enrichment bins below 100, I should instead be looking at adjusting the VE table leaner instead.

I'll give that a try and see what happens. I was cut short the other night as I found my intake was leaking water. Get to pull that back off and reseal it. :x

Thanks,

You need to get your car up to operating temperature and tune VE before messing with the warmup enrichments. I would never touch VE when the engine is cold and never touch warmup when the engine is warm since it shouldn't have any effect, but then when the engines is again cold it will. There are exceptions to this when you first install things - you have to do what you have to do to get the car running, but once it is at operating temperature, then tune VE, then go back and tune warmup when the car is again cold.

Thanks for the information guys. I guess thats what I'm trying to get straight in my head right now. The exact order of how I need to go about tuning everything. Its definitely a lot clearer now.

I'll give this all a try once I fix the intake leak and will post back with results.

Thanks again,
