Cant figure out edis

Post by shannonspringer »

Just installed Edis 6 and i cant figure out why its not working. I have the vr sensor hooked up correctly and I have 12v at to the coil and ignition module. i disconnected PIP and SAW and i still didn't get any spark. I just bought this kit from boost engineering and it was all supposed to be tested good. I ran out of ideas. Please help me.

EDIS is sensitive to plug/wire resistance. You need >5kohms per each plug/wire combo.
Using standard R plugs together with copper spark wires works fine.

That said the most common trouble is VR sensor polarity, try both ways. Keep VR sensor gap to 36-1 wheel at about 1 mm
And make sure wheel is made in mild/cast steel , and not masked by a magnetic wheel of larger diameter that can
screw up the induction crct.
Are you sure you have plus feed to EDIS in cranking? Connect to battery + thru a 10A fuse to be sure for a short test.

EDIS is hardware bulletproof and software is not accessible. Ideal for a guy like me!

And be sure that you KNOW that it is not sparking. EDIS is hard to strobe with som dial back and/or clamp pickup strobes.
Take the plugs out , connect the HT stuff , ground the plugs and make an eyeball check!

If it is not understood , it will not work!

I am using the factory plug wires and ngk plugs. roughly 10k per wire. I am also using the factory ford trigger wheel. what do you mean by plus feed? I ran a external 12 volt power supply to double check i was getting enough voltage. 14.35 volts. I verified with plug out and grounded to engine. Ground is running directly to battery. would there be a problem if my shielding does not have tape on it? It may be touching chassis in the back of car. I tryed disconnecting the shielded wire to see if that was a problem. no luck. Also i am using a 22uf cap off the pos.

Was the wiring provided? Sometimes people get the polarity of the EDIS connector backwards, also the coil primary wiring should be double checked as well.

EDIS is pretty bulletproof once all the proper connections are made.

is was the vr sensor. i also install a ground strap to the base of the coil. i dont know if that helped or not.
