I wanted to share with you advance information on the MegaSquirt MEGAMEET 2010! We have had many requests to move the event around to different regions in order to to make it available to different people in different geographies - so this year we are going to host it in the Reading, PA area, on June 25-26th 2010. The gang will be in the area on Friday thru Sunday to meet and greet.
This year we are fortunate to be able to visit the actual location that assembles the MegaSquirt PCBs - like MS2 and Microsquirt. The shop is located in Boyertown, PA (about a 20 minute drive from Reading) and is a full-service Contract Manufacturer. They are going to open the doors (this one time only) to show you exactly how PCBs are populated and soldered... and this facility has high-capacity machines for large-scale assembly. The chance doesn't come by often to see these machines in action so this is a real treat indeed! Since MegaSquirt involves electronics this is the perfect venue for people like ourselves to learn more about how its done. We will also use this facility to host the MegaMeet discussions on Saturday. And, nearby this location is a speed shop where we can dyno vehicles for some tuning time, so you can fine-tune your setup. More information on this as we get it all pulled together.
There are two other places of interest nearby - the first is Carlisle. For those who are not aware, the town of Carlisle PA hosts car shows and swap meets almost every weekend and is truly legendary for car swap meets. This weekend is the "All-GM Nationals" meet, this will be crammed packed with every part imaginable for your GM ride. For those coming in from out-of-town you may want to hit this spot on Friday morning, its worth going to for sure. And you can stop along the way to Hershey, PA and drop off the family for the weekend while you do your car fix - they can also go to Lancaster to check out the sites!!! Here is information on Carlisle: http://www.carsatcarlisle.com/ce/index.asp
The other hot spot is Maple Grove Raceway, which is several minutes away from Reading. This is a *real* 1/4-mile track which host several world-class events every year. On Friday night its Grudge Racing, so you can bring your MS-powered car and race! We will get information on entry rules but from what I am told street cars are welcome! There is also high-end racing on Saturday so I am sure we will end up there as well later on Saturday to watch! Info on Maple Grove: http://www.maplegroveraceway.com/blog/?page_id=1280
There will be more to come in the next month as we pull the schedule together. We will have hotel information coming up in the next few weeks. This year should be a blast - a good reason for you to come out and enjoy the fun!
