Injector retention clip

I have run into a problem with the injectors I am using. The original injectors have a slot for the retention clip much nearer the top than the replacements. The original clips are the wrong size and do not hold the injectors in the fuel rail. This has allowed the injectors to slip out of the fuel rail under pressure. I have not been able top find larger clips and the local parts store was no help. The fuel rail and manifold are from a mid 80's BMW M10, the injectors are Ford (made by Bosch). I've added a few pics for reference. Are larger clips available, or do I need to get different injectors?

Hi.
Have had the same challenge.
I proceeded by capping the in and outlets with plasic snap ons( hydraulic mechs use them) and taking the injectors to a good
machine shop.
The cut two recesses in each injector to suit the clip/push on coupling. Now sits in a mildly hoy chevy SB, been running for a couple of years , no probs.

the stuff I have seen uses the fuel rail to hold the injectors in place. They bolt the rail solid to something, so the injector cannot move either way.

Thanks for the replies and suggestions. The fuel rail is bolted to the manifold, and I have been running the car for a few weeks. I was overly optimistic after having read that often the injectors will stay put without the clips. That is not the case with this setup. A few days ago one of the injectors was able to come loose from the manifold and sprayed quite a lot of fuel all over the hot engine. I caught it quickly due to the odor of fuel and there was no fire but it was not a fun drive home. I was able to secure the injectors with zip ties, but obviously that is not a permanent and safe solution.

This is my first experience with EFI, and I bought the injectors under the assumption that of these types of injector are interchangeable. This is not the case, but now I know what to look for. I think I will just seek out another set, which will probably be about the same hassle and expense as having the injectors machined. I would go ahead and machine them but they were not too terribly expensive and there's nothing special about them.

So I ended up following Heribert suggestion. I thought I should post a few pics of it for the edification of any future squirters.
