VW speed sensor

Post by Juliemac »

On the back of the speedo, VW added a hall effect sensor that is intended for the mfa.
Can this be used to feed speed readings to MS?

Theoretically yes, but with current firmware you would need to build a frequency to voltage converter and bring the resulting signal in on JS4 or JS5.

hmmmm this is quite interesting.
i had a question on how to get the speed sensor to work with MS a while back and got no replies.

how do you build the freq to voltage converter?

and a question to the origional poster- why do you want the speed to read in MS? just wondering

Here's one example I've seen of a voltage to frequency converter circuit for VSS input. I have not tested this myself; you're on your own for making this one work.
