iPhone app

I'm looking for testers for my iPhone app for MegaSquirt, currently dubbed MobiSquirt. You will need an iPhone or iPad running iOS 3.2 or higher, it doesn't need to be jailbroken as the development is all being done using "official" Apple development programmes. The connection to the MegaSquirt will require a PC/Laptop of some kind running a bridging application or (preferably) using a serial to WiFi adaptor as detailed here...
http://mobisquirt.org/hardware/

The first test version is likely to be available in the next 4-6 weeks. The final app will be available as a free download from the app store. The first version is "read only" in that it allows logging and viewing of data and replaying of logged data but will not support map or setting adjustments - that will come in later versions as outlined in the development roadmap.

The app currently supports MS1, MS1-Extra, MS2, MS2-Extra (v2 and v3 firmware) and MegaJolt. I've currently only tested against the latest firmware versions for each so if you are signing up as a tester please include the firmware version you are using so I can target testing more efficiently.

The current development roadmap is available here...

there's a blog here...

Not sure, have had a few testers sign up over the last week or so.

If you want to PM your email address to me I'll be able to tell if I've received yours or not.

cheers

Dave

How is the app coming along? The idea of using my iPad to tune instead of buying a laptop is quite intriguing. Will this work with microsquirt too?

Thanks,
nich

The first test version of the app is going to be made available to testers in the next few days. In order to run the test version of the app you'll need to be "signed up" as a tester by providing your device(s) UDID(s). the app will run on iPhone, iPad and iPod touch devices running iOS3.2 or higher. (Potentially it can be made to run on earlier versions, it's just all the testers signed up so far are using at least iOS 3.2).

If you'd like to test/evaluate the first test version you will need to supply your UDID and the best way to do that is to download the "Ad Hoc Helper" app from the app store, launch it and address the resulting email to testers@mobisquirt.org Please also add your MS hardware and software version to the email so I can get an idea what is being tested.

Lots more details on the app web site: http://mobisquirt.org/ including a support/feature requests/suggestions forum.

This project has reached somewhat of a milestone now. The first version of the app has passed the review process and is available to download now from the app store. This version has been tested pretty thoroughly with MS1-Extra firmware versions and has had some limited testing against MS1 firmware versions. The next test and then release versions will target MS2-Extra firmware versions.

The app can be found on the app store by searching for megasquirt or mobisquirt.

More details, support, feedback and the user manual are available at the project web site - http://mobisquirt.org/

The user manual is a revision behind at the moment but I'll bring it up to date over the next few days - the App store approval happened much quicker that I expected so caught me napping a bit.

You sir, are a genius! I just stumbled upon this project of yours and downloaded your app onto my iTouch. Since I do not yet have a wifi transmitter, I was relegated to demo mode and am duly impressed. It seems a little bit buggy (screen flicker, slow screen changes and the like) but I'm sure those are minor issues that you will successfully resolve.

I'm running an MS2e equipped 1981 Delorean for both fuel and spark control. I very much want to have real time information available in the dash area, but with the tightness of the car, this is virtually impossible. To be able to ditch the netbook and wire in favor of your handheld (for simply watching and logging purposes) is a great idea.

As a noob on these things, I'm not familiar with the required transmitter. The EFIanalytics guys use bluetooth not wifi and promote this guy: http://www.efianalytics.com/products/cl ... tooth.html Is there any benefit of one wireless standard over the other? Have you got any writeup anywhere on this so I can learn more? I looked at the links you had to a digikey device; does that simply plug into the 9pin on the MS unit or is it part of a system that must be built? Sorry for my ignorance...

Any plans for an android version? I'm just not really an Apple guy, just happen to have an iTouch........

Great job.

Seems pretty cool the app :RTFM:
But the interface is a bit expensive, since it's just for datalog (MS I).

Keep the good work ;)

If you go look on the site, it seems it is functioning now for MS2, and MS2 extra now also.

I am trying to get Mobisquirt communicating to my MS. The recommended RN 134 isn't sold anymore and was wondering if you have a new part to recommend? I am not sure what to buy but don't want to waste money if possible. Thanks.
