Begining a turbo KZ 650 project.

Post by highvoltagefeathers »

I'm perfectly new to megasquirt, and much of the information is over my head, despite having scanned the manual.

All I need to know is which board to familiarize myself with for the project I'm working on.

I have a 1978 Kawasaki KZ650, which I am turbocharging.

Rather than running blow-through carbs and dealing with tuning by jet-and-error (as I've been sick of doing for 3 years with this bike), I'm going to install a GPZ 750 throttle body assembly, as well as a new set of coils, and use the megasquirt system to sequentially control the injectors and coils, listen to up to 15lbs of boost, and all otherwise associated sensors.

I am willing to spend whatever, I just need a good board or setup that will do everything I need.

Thanks!

You don't need to have an open checkbook with a MegaSquirt system, you will need to be willing to learn a lot about how to DIY tune and build your system (fuel and ignition).

If you expect to just wire up a MegaSquirt and have it run good on the first try - just walk away.

If your ready to get frustrated and get plenty of help from this forum - step on it. It is very cool to build and tune your engine.

BTW read, read, and read the MegaSquirt manual :RTFM: One your are SICK of looking though it then you are allowed to "skim" it.
