any way to "record" a stock ecu to get maps?

I have a well running car, that i want to put megasquirt on. I want to come up with some method to basically record the pulsewidths and spark timing off the stock ECU as it runs, to form a baseline map. I want to do this, so when i do convert it, i have a 99% good map, with no tuning time. I will then tune for the changes i make.

Can i somehow use the megasquirt for this? If not, any ideas how to do this?

Not from me,but it would be nice to be able to "save" the stock tune as an msq as a really good starting point...

If the car already runs well, why do you want to fit MS? :D

This could be useful for someone who already knew MS inside out - but for one who doesn't, going through the setup process from a base map helps to learn what everything does.

It's not much different from starting off using someone else's MS map from a similar engine. It sounds like it will save a deal of time - but only does for one can check it all though quickly to make sure it really is what's needed. And if you can do that, you can equally as quickly start afresh.
