Hi guys I was just about to purchase a megasquirt 2 vs 3.57 but have a bit of conflicting info i need sorted.
DIYAutoTune recommended megasquirt 2 vs 3.57 saying i would need no internal mods to run EdIS4
Literature doesnt cover 3.57 very well and from what ive read there are a number of mods ( jumpers etc) which will need doing to run edis 4.
Which is it?
I thought 3.57 would be ready to go with pip going straight to pin 24 and saw straight to pin 36....and just configuration changes in autotune?
Thanks heaps guys

The ones we sell are set up for 5 volt logic level output and Hall / opto input out of the box. This configuration can work with EDIS without hardware changes.

V3.57 uses surface mount components, so perhaps not so easy to do any DIY mods if needed, as the components are so much smaller and require slightly different techniques to replace. Since the PCB is the same size, I see no real reason to choose it over the V3. Basically, it's just easier to machine produce using surface mount, rather than being intrinsically better. But this is just my opinion, as I like the flexibility of the V3 for DIY mods - and like to build my own from scratch.
At one time it was recommended to use the opto input for the EDIS PIP signal. B&G and Extra Code modified the board in different ways too. It's now recommended you use the VR input.
The V3.57 uses jumpers to select the various tach input etc options. On the V3, you do this with solder links - although you could modify it to use jumpers if that was important.
However, if you want either with the hardware configured exactly to your requirements, use a supplier who offers this service.

Hi trakkies why is VR now recommeded? does opto input not work well?
Also with VR used, could I Run my 36 tooth VR sensor positive+ straight to megasquirt and eliminate EDIS all together? is there benefit in this? are the mods to then go to a 2 coil( 4 plug) sytem then difficult to also add?

Thanks Matt. Do you sell a version 3.0 or 3.57 with the above changes already in place? cost?
i.e - 1) VR sensor input ( NO EDIS- This will help me eliminate EDIS and give me the ability to read my 36 tootyh signal in Tunerstudio)
2) setup to drive your 4 plug 2 coil pack( i read somewhere about BIP373 changes)
http://www.DIYAutoTune.com/catalog/ign4 ... p-409.html
3) an output to drive a cooling fan relay( pre installed)
Ide love to do the mods myself but my soldering isnt where it needs to be and i dont have the time to spend playing around with the internals of the megasquirt due to a time constraint i have on getting this project car completed.
Thanks guys

I've used the opto input with EDIS and B&G code for years with no problems. I'd expect the Extra version to be ok too. Using the VR input is probably more to rationalise things (leaving the opto free for cam sensors), I'd guess.
You can do wasted spark with MS and no EDIS. But you'll have to use Extra Code and that has its own forum. You need to add extra coil driver(s) to MS, so is probably more complicated than using EDIS. Direct from MS may be better than EDIS on a high revving engine.
