Hi and please help

Post by tony4790 »

This is my first post on this forum so hello ...
Can anyone provide me with ECU or PCM module pin data or wiring harness map for a UK 98 Ford Focus 1.8 zetec ? I have a MS2 V2 and a ready made wiring loom from B/G for this ECU and have an EDIS 4 module to run the coil pack but I want to use as much of the existing loom from Ford so I could take out the MS if I wanted and revert back to the Ford EEC-5 module without too much hassle . Can anyone see any problems in what Im trying to achieve ?

This may help...

might be worthwhile getting an ECU from a breakers yard and using it to make a pluggable interface..

Best way IMHO is to get a second engine loom from Ebay, etc. Modify that so you can swap over easily. No need for the MS pigtale if the MS is going where the old ECU went - just fit a DB37 to the Ford loom.

Using the MS wiring digram as a basis, change the wiring colours to those in the Ford loom. And keep the new wiring diagram somewhere safe - you'll be very glad of it if you even need to fault find, or modify things later on.

We happen to have a breakout adapter for connecting MegaSquirt to EEC-IV harnesses here:

That certainly beats rummaging in the scrap yard.....even for a tight-wad like me.

Thanks for your helpful replys guys . Having owned the MS for a few years and done nothing with it I thought it was about time to put it to good use .

I have managed to pick myself up a used Ford EEC-V module and will probably use this to attach the DB 37 plug as a loom converter as I have got the correct ECU pin data fresh from Autodata .

Also I was wrong on my first post as I took the MS apart to short the bootload jumper and install the latest firmware I realised it was an MS-2 V3.0 I have so I will not be needing the EDIS 4 module which is good news and a lot less wiring !

You'll need to modify the MS2 V3 by fitting a second coil driver if you wish to dispense with the EDIS module. Assuming your MS2 has got the single coil driver already fitted - many don't.

Oh - it will need additional wiring, not less.
