Searching through the archived posts for a small external fuel pump for a 1298cc Suzuki GTi engine and i came across a post takilng about a Kawasaki GPZ1100 or something being suitable for smaller applications.


So i jump on ebay and see quite few external pumps for Kawasaki Ninjas ranging from the ZX6 (600cc) to the ZX11 (1100cc).

ANyone here know if they use the same pump? (make sense cost wise, they often use the same injectors ... all they have to do is adjust the ecu for cylinder size )

Any idea at the PSI they pump at and flow? It has to feed a 1.3L NA suzuki engine at 90kw (120hp-ish)

i am not so sure that 3 cyl is gonna be making 120 horse.....

but iw ould look for msd external fuel pump. i believe it is part number 2225. efi fuel pressure pump. i believe the ninja's only have a pump to move the fuel from the tank to the carbs. not for f/i.

make sure that you get something that can at least hold 30 psi.

Err.. no it's a 1.3L 4 cyl and it's 86kw's stock... i figured the extra 4kw was not an unrealistic increase.

You must be mistaking it with the budget 1L 8v.. sure 80kw+ is asking a bit but Nissan March 1L had a Supercharged Turbo that did 81kw in the 80's (yeah both a supercharger and a turbo... cool huh?)
As for the ninja's they have been efi for some time..

As no one knows (tried here and on a kawasaki forum) i'll just have to pick up one from a 600cc and 1100cc ninja and one from a 1500cc Vulcan and test them.. if they flow the same i'll have a spare if not they go on ebay. I appreciate what your saying but it easier for me to source these pumps than spend money freighting the MSD (which i read in other posts to) to Australia. If i got it wrong well then we will know, if i got it right? Well the just may be a lot of Sub-1600cc cars with kawasaki pumps

Also check it`s for EFI`d bikes (made in the last 2 years), earlier ones have remote pumps for carbs and would be useless for electronic injectors. IIRC most injected bikes have the pumps built into the tanks, not remote.

I don't have the part number, sorry. But I have one in my BMW K-75. Of course, I needed an internal fuel pump, so I sawed off one of the two hose nipples and shoved it in my tank. But maybe it's a start.

It was about $250. By comparison, a Ford Mustang fuel pump is onlt $80, but can't be mounted externally. It may save you money to modify your setup for an internal pump.

The GPZ1100 (EFI)
and GPZ 750 turbo (EFI) pumps are about the same.
Both are high pressure (40psi+) pumps.

The pump for the ZX-11 is not.

If you need a high pressure pump for the Kawasaki - PM me, there's an automotive replacement... The Kawasaki pump for the GPZ is well over $300.

A Subaru Turbo (not sure what years) also has virtually the same pump. I bolted one on my 83 GPZ after near heart-failure when pricing a Kawasaki replacement.

Interested in parting with your Kaw wiring harness? What year is it for?

Hey Rocket - i'd be very interested to know what Subaru that pump came out of - a liberty of some sort?

Mid-late 80's subaru I think. I snagged it off of my Subaru Tech friend's bench (with his permission). It has a big check valve made into it, but it was still a bolt-on. sorry I don't have more info...

Look for an external fuel pump from a 1999-2000 Suzuki Hayabusa 1300, it has an intigrated fuel filter and pressure regulator.
