Clint, I am in the process of doing exactly the same project, modernizing my XS1100 from the 80's with fuel injection.

My idea was to use MS to control fuel injection and ignition timing advance from a 36-1 wheel, with a Hall / VR pick up unit which would replace the old manual centrifugal ...
