Re: Is it safe to Scope coil driver output?

One could always make up a 10:1 voltage divider circuit with 2 resistors, to save buying the probe for a one-off measurement.

Re: Idea for ignition tuning for best torque

Well, we can't say you haven't tried. Thanks for looking in to it. There may be a small chance that Al Grippo might do it. Al, if you read this, is there any chance of doing an experimental version for us to try, on the understanding that there will be no support and if we don't like it we just go s...

Re: Idea for ignition tuning for best torque

There appears to be two spare ADC channells connected to jumper pads JS4 and JS5 on the V3.0 PCB. For hardware I would think a 5K linear pot with a 5V Vref feed and a ground would do, with the wiper supplying the analogue signal. Center position (2.5V) = no change, each 0.5V above or below that adds...

Re: Idea for ignition tuning for best torque

Problem is though by the time you have heard the det and then pressed the button the engine may have moved on to another point and so you end up retarding the wrong point robbing you of power unecessarily?!? I was thinking more along the lines of this scenario - you have a motor that you need to tu...

Re: Idea for ignition tuning for best torque

Yes, of course, you are right, there are only two states for a switch. I like the idea of a trim as vinister suggested, if there was a spare ADC channel a pot could be wired up to it to give a variable range of +/- ignition timing.

Re: Wireless datalogging with a Tungsten T2

My Tungsten T does not work with PalmLog, so I log with the Palm Vx. There seems to be a very large number of Palm devices out there : ) Therefore each MS-er using a new untested Palm seems to find out themselves whether it will work or not (if it is previously untested by someone else). For an exam...

Re: Wireless datalogging with a Tungsten T2

PalmLog does not appear to work with a Tungsten T, I don't know about the T2. The TT freezes up. I doubt that the radio system you are thinking about will work as the code does not interface with the card. If you just want to datalog, go for a hard wired Palm Vx if using MS2, as the datalogs have mo...

Re: Getting started with Palm

Some Palms come with a cradle, if yours has a cradle then just use this to connect to the PC, and buy a serial lead from ebay and swap the wires over on pins 2 and 3 in the DB9 connector to connect to MS.

http://www.blessedmemories.net/Palm has info and the Palm apps.

Re: Idea for ignition tuning for best torque

You have a great idea there IMO. I used to have an old motorbike with the advance/retard lever on the handlebars, it was very easy to find the sweet spot. A 3 pole switch that could leave a port pin (if there are any spare) either open, grounded or tied to 5V could add or subtract a few degrees whil...

Re: Alpha n

In Megatune, go to Fuel Set-Up/Injection Control, look in the control algorithm box and set it to Blend SD/Alpha-n. Then go to Fuel Set-Up/Alpha-N Blending. This is for MS2. You will need the latest ini file to allow SD at low rpm and Alpha-n at higher rpm, as far as I know. more info: http://www.ms...

Re: VR sensor wiring - how do others route it?

Single-core shielded cable is not really shielded in this instance as the sheild can pick up EMI. You could consider using a twin core shielded cable with the shield grounded, and the 2 cores carry the VR signal. Otherwise route the cable around the other side of the engine or straight across to the...

Check this link: viewtopic.php?p=196786#p196786

If you have a card, you can put the MS Palm program onto the SD card, put the card into the Palm and load the program, don't need any windows software. You will need a cable to connect the Palm to the PC to upload datalogs.

Re: Palm and Blue tooth.

Great news Roger. My biggest problem at the moment is trying to read these forums, looks like Win98 has to go...plus the $7.00 Bluetooth dongle I bought for the PC USB port has software that will not run on Win98 (bluesoleil), but the RS232 to Bluetooth unit for MS appears to be ready to go, thats t...

Re: Palm and Blue tooth.

Thanks for the update! I've been looking around, here's a few links I came up with for cheaper Bluetooth accessories/modules. I don't know if they work well or not, but thought I'd post up a few hours of research. Of course, or hopefully, someone else will come up with some better alternatives, but ...

Ronchinoy,

What does it cost to put Bluetooth on the MS, what did you use? It sounds interesting.
