Re: Error 2 when calibrating AFR

OK, it's not error 2, it's an error to "/002", which is the table # for AFR.

I got this to work by going to project properties and having TS detect the MS setup. Then writing the table worked fine.

Re: Error 2 when calibrating AFR

I did find that setting and changed it. I will look up the code version I'm running, TS version, etc. Maybe I need to work from a new project or something.

Error 2 when calibrating AFR

I just switched from single WB (LC-1) to dual NB (4-wire isolated GM sensors) and can't get readings in TunerStudio. When I to to tools-->calibrate AFR (selecting NB) I get an error and it doesn't write. AFR1 and AFR2 are both stuck rich at 9 or something, which makes sense if MS thinks the LC-1 is ...

Re: Desperate for help

Did you build up all the settings by hand or are you using an .msq from somebody else? Maybe you could post up the .msq so we could look for errors. Are you using an adapter harness from the factory ECU connector to the MS or did you do the wiring yourself? Are you using the stock pickup coil and HE...

Re: Oscillations

You can troubleshoot this by disabling things in the software. First of all, you should verify that there are no vacuum leaks. Then make sure that O2 correction is disabled until above your idle rpm. Then look for acceleration or x-tau enrichment kicking in. Those can also be easily disabled to see ...

Re: Running AC Idle Problem

Do you have any provision to raise the idle speed when the compressor is running? It's pretty easy to rig up a valve to do this - you don't even have to run it through MS.

Re: 180 coolant temp at all times

I would stick various resistors into the connector in place of the sensor to see what reading you get. If you go open circuit it goes to some default temperature, which is less meaningful. You can also test your sensor with an ohm-meter and ice-water, boiling water, etc.

Re: best lean mixture for economy

So basically i'm also wondering.... what's most economical: -absolutely leanest you can run without misfiring ? -allow some lean misfire (i dont think so, as the fuel unburned is effectively wasted) ? -maybe there is a certain afr/advance combination that produces maximum fuel economy (at certain s...

Re: best lean mixture for economy

You really have to figure it out by trial and error. Look at your MAP and RPM under the conditions you are at the most for cruising. This is where to focus for the most fuel economy benefit. Then lean those sections out until you start to feel lean surge, then richen back up a bit and you're done. V...

Re: IAC control question?

This should be easy with a stim. Otherwise, just pull the stepper and plug the hole while the engine warms up (prop throttle open as needed). I would be surprised if this isn't way too much air for a reasonable idle speed. But from a practical standpoint, why not just get the stepper open all the wa...

landyvehr, Suppose you have a 4 cylinder 4-stroke engine. Then in 720° (two revolutions) you have 4 spark events (at 0°, 180°, 360° and 540°, then starting over at 720°=0°). MegaSquirt can only inject on an ignition event, so 1, 2, or 4 squirts/cycle for this engine. If you hav...

Re: E85 parts compatibility

So the aluminum fuel rails and intake manifold will be OK? The megamanual makes it sound like all that Ethanol is a big deal, but my gut instinct is that if aluminum components won't hold up there will also be problems with the valves, heads, etc. and conversion is nearly impossible. From what I hav...

E85 parts compatibility

Since E85 is now available in my area, my motivation to convert my MS-II setup to flex fuel has increased. I'm hoping somebody has some experience with components and can tell me which parts are most likely to be damaged by the Ethanol. Here is my current fuel delivery setup: -Steel fuel tank (after...

Ok, all my attempts to fire these coils off of a computer power supply (300 watt) failed miserably. It shouldn't draw more than 10 amps on the 12 volt line, should it?... I tried grounding both plugs, wiring them together, and firing +12 and ground through the two coil inputs... No use. Huge spark ...
