Re: MSDroid - Android dash, tuning, and log viewer!

Hi trev16v, I just loaded MSdroid on my android tablet and it seems to work very nicely, but there are a few issues I need help with. this thread seems to end abrubtly and am wondering where are the current threads are - Did they all go to Facebook ? (I don't have a facebook account) Here are the in...

Re: Pertronix and r52 and r56 weirdness

Matt, That made a huge difference but the revs are not nice and crisp yet - I assume further tuning should clean it up. I have been tuning Today and need to figure out why the autotune without a laptop doesn't work - I have some research to do on that topic. As far as the R52 and R56 go, I guess I c...

Re: Pertronix and r52 and r56 weirdness

The tune is rough just to get it going. My map value is high at idle I believe is due to the 105 degree LSA cam causing some reversion. I was able to drive it yesterday and have not made changes to anything since then. The engine would not easily rev up much past 3000RPM and frequently coughed and p...

Pertronix and r52 and r56 weirdness

I am working on a vw sand rail that has a pertronix module and have followed the DIY instructions for wiring the Board and ignitor. I have a MSII 3.0 board running 2.92. Originally it would not give any spark, then I turned in R56 and it started up. Ignition events were not consistent. I understand ...

ignition advance stuck at 10 degrees BTDC - Limp ?

I have been tuning on this vehicle for a while and it is running very well, but it didn't seem to have the power or gas mileage I thought it should. Although Megatune showed timing was moving appropriately under different conditions, I put a Timing light on the engine anyways and to my surprise the ...

Re: Engine wants dwell above 4.0 ms max. duration

Matt, I do not have an oscilliscope handy, I wish I did. I did do some reversal of the things I did and found that the Pulstar plugs that I put on were the cause. I actually have the "Direct Hits" made by Pulstar. Since they are added to a stock vehicle and required no ignition adjustment,...

Re: Engine wants dwell above 4.0 ms max. duration

One more thing. The engine revs nicely with low load at 2.5ms and a slightly opened throttle. Under load and more throttle opening it misses or bogs at higher RPM's and wants the longer duration dwell, which fixes the issue. So I am targeting troubleshooting whatever the TPS controls as the possble ...

Re: Engine wants dwell above 4.0 ms max. duration

Hi Matt, Thanks for the reply! Although 4.2ms may be safe to keep using, I would like to understand why this engine will not run well at 2.5 ms which is per the MFG specs and as stated in many places in the megasquirt manuals for a GM small cap, external coil set up. The Megasquirt references tell m...

Engine wants dwell above 4.0 ms max. duration

Hello, I've been having problems with firing at upper RPM ranges and found that the engine wants >4.2 ms of Maximum dwell duration. At 4.2, it runs well and feel it would like more but haven't tried it yet. The coil is a MSD blaster #8226. I have the 8 pin stock Ignition module and should need to be...

Re: VR ignition drop out - occasional

nismoryco,

Yes I am trying the transistor mod as a last ditch effort to cure the ignition misses.

I'll try the MPS2222 and let you know.

Didn't want to waste a weekend an not work on this issue.

thanks

Re: VR ignition drop out - occasional

I bought the 2N2222 "grab bag" transistor pack from Radio shack and it does not have any 2N2222's in it. (I bought 2 packs - all they and the surrounding stores had) What it does have in it is a "MPS 2222A". Will the MPS 2222A work ? I looked the specs up in Digikey and they are ...

Re: VR ignition drop out - occasional

I'll search for that in the forums and try it if I can find it. I want to also swap out the HEI Module, putting a stock one in as the distributor came with a "High performance" module which I have no clue what they did to make it that way, so I'll start with stock and once this miss is gon...

Re: VR ignition drop out - occasional

Hello nismoryco, Yes I have messed with these pots quite a bit. I have them where I feel I get the least amount if ignition drop outs. There are just some random drop outs that I wanted to get rid of. The Hall fix was to change the value in a resistor, just like what I am doing with these pots. Is t...

VR ignition drop out - occasional

I've built a new MS-II ECU with V2.886 and jumpered the Hall setup. Had lots of Ign. drop-out issues, tried #2 Mod fix, then swapped out many resistors in R12 with no hope for a cure as the problem persisted. Tried 220 ohms all the way up to 1.3K ohms. Then I undid all the hall mod changes and went ...
