Re: TS compatible with MS2 v1.0?

Danged old memory error strikes again! Sorry Phil, 2.6.19, what was I thinking? I have an .ini file on the desktop of the old Stinkpad, does 2.3 sound about right? I think that's probably it. I have to reload the s19 file too since the aborted attempt at upgrading the firmware erased it. I didn't re...

TS compatible with MS2 v1.0?

Just wondering. I've got an old unit I used MegaTune with and thought I'd ask if TS would run it. I have v 3.4.0 installed on a new tuning laptop, pretty decent machine with a native serial port. I still have the old laptop with MT and my old tuning files which I can use with it but I gave the contr...

Re: Any new progress for air cooled temp sensors?

Maybe. Maybe not. I see some TC amps on digikey for as little as two bucks each but not in stock. Cheapest one in stock is about nine. Maybe allied or hosfelt has something though, and there's another one I can't seem to recall... tyco? something short like that. Have to keep looking. Plenty of SMDs...

Re: Any new progress for air cooled temp sensors?

$15 each for 3*C accuracy or $24 for 1*C from digikey. Is that as good as it gets?

Re: Any new progress for air cooled temp sensors?

Thanks Matt, any suggestions for a suitable amp? I could locate it at the connectors between the thermocouple plug and the MAT connector if I add power. For now, until I am ready to do the MS3 upgrade that would probably be the easiest. If the amp is small enough I may even be able to mold a housing...

Re: Any new progress for air cooled temp sensors?

Maybe extending this thread will be OK? Anyway I have two thermocouples on a blown/intercooled engine with MS-II and I need to input the manifold air temperature to the controller. I have one thermocouple at the blower outlet above the intercooler core and one below it at the discharge into the inta...

Re: Won't install

True, but serial ports are nearly as gone as the dinosaurs. Good to know it'll work. I ordered a PCMCIA card to add a pair of usb ports. About seven bucks and should be here in a week. Since I already have the download files on a thumb drive that should make for an easy install. I'll check the video...

Re: Won't install

I like a serial cable myself, if only because it is tolerant of noise. To do it I have to upgrade my old IBM Stinkpad 600, and I would really prefer that anyway, rather than bouncing the new dell around in the car. Right now I have no way to load the software, but I'm thinking a PCI/usb card might b...

Re: Won't install

Thanks Phil, that did it. Apparently I had not tried the 32 bit version of Java, so now I have both installed and it works fine. I may have further questions as I get deeper into the configuration and tuning but for now this is good. I think a reasonable first step will be to migrate my old MS-II tu...

Re: Won't install

"Setup ? TunerStudio requires Java Runtime Environment v1.6 or newer to run. Please download and install JRE, then run this setup again. Do you want to download it now? yes/no" If I type Java -version in the command prompt I get 1 program "java -version" and one file "jre-7u...

Won't install

Don't know if you've seen this problem before or not. Using a Windows 7 64 bit machine and have installed Mozilla Nightly and Java version 7 update 13 (verified). When I try to install TunerStudio (Beta, or Pro) it says I need Java 1.6 or higher and the install bombs. Java Control Panel shows 1.7.0_...

Re: Getting started with Palm

Seems like there were some guys setting up bluetooth on these things. You might want to try a search to see what you need.
