Re: Starting to tune on Buick 231 V6 MSII, TBI, EDIS

Colin--
Not that I'm any expert, but I seem to need a lot more fuel than the calculations suggest. I'm running E85, but even calculating for that I've already gone to more than 50% more req_fuel and the VE table is in the high 50's around idle. One thing I would mention is to verify that your fuel ...

Re: losing EDIS spark (and PIP signal) intermittently

Thanks to those who offered help on this problem. Ultimately, I did re-profile the crank trigger but it didn't seem to change things. I have moved forward and installed the engine in the truck, merging the wiring harnesses and permanently mounting the MS-II. For reasons I can't explain, the problem ...

How does MS interpet LC-1 signal?

I'm not sure if this should be a post in tuning fuel and air or in the MegaTune sub-fourm, so apologies in advance if I've got it in the wrong spot. The third question is the main reason for the post, but the first two help provide background.

I am trying to tune my freshly built and configured ...

Re: Injectors staying open

Mark--
Don't know if you've resolved the problem yet, but this info may be of use:

Are the injectors staying open when the engine is OFF? The MegaManual says this is a normal characteristic, in that the injector driver transistors are in a "undertermined" state at power off. This is why you wire ...

Re: propane

FyreDawg--
If you want to know exactly what engine you have, I suggest this link: http://www.marineandstreetmotorsport.com/marineandstreet/?page_id=13

It's a website for a speed shop down under. I found it invaluable to determine what the heck year engine I was rebuilding for the MegaSquirt project ...

injector application/flow rating cross reference?

Can anyone tell me where I might find information that tells me what size injectors were used in various vehicles? I'm supercharging a Chev 4.3 and running it on E-85. I initially planned to run the TBI setup, but after more thought (and education) I figured I'd avoid more tuning problems down the ...

Re: propane

I might be able to shed a little light on your mystery engine. IF your engine truly came out of a s-10 truck or blazer, it had a Rochester model 220 twin bore throttle body with (2) 43 lb/hr injectors. Chevy's RPO (Regular Production Option) for this engine was "Z".The intake would have been cast ...

Re: losing EDIS spark (and PIP signal) intermittently

Thanks for the input, guys...much appreciated!
I'll hold back on re-profiling the crank trigger until I try the suggestions you have offered. I'll report back with success, (hopefully) or more data to troubleshoot. I'm jealous of those who are working through tuning issues--that's what I want to be ...

losing EDIS spark (and PIP signal) intermittently

I'm going to apologize in advance for the long post, but hopefully someone will recognize these symptoms and be able to offer some guidance.

I've searched the forums :RTFM: all day today to try and find someone who has had the same symptoms I'm experiencing, but nothing seems to match up well.

I ...

Re: IAC stepper motor direction question

Thanks for the help, guys.
This may all be much ado about nothing--a friend who has already done a successful MSII install told me that IAC control as implemented in the base code is only for warm-up, after coolant goes higher (and stays higher) than the fully warmed up value, there is no further ...

IAC stepper motor direction question

After 2 years of research, fabrication and assembly I finally got to the big moment and test fired my engine for the first time. After some initial problems with the firing order and EDIS plug wire layout, it started right up :yeah!: Although I am configured for spark knock and Idle control I had ...
